Perth and the Swan Valley
Visiting the capital of Western Australia, you will be spoilt for choice at the variety of places to visit, restaurants and café bars which cater for everyone’s tastes as well as a host of theatres, art galleries and of course great shopping. Getting out of the city and about 25 minutes east of Perth, the pace of life slows down as you take a tailor made tour that sees you reaching the Swan Valley region. This is home to Western Australia’s oldest vineyards, and what better way to make the most of your camping tour by stocking up on a few bottles of wine. Before heading off on your outback tour you might want to undertake one of the many Swan Valley food and wine trails, or visit one of the boutique beer outlets, depending on your preference.
Darwin
Darwin, the tropical capital of the Northern Territory, is a great place to start your 4wd adventure and Australian outback tours. Not only is the weather great, but you can enjoy a number of outdoor festivals and fabulous cultural experiences before heading off to swim in the beautiful clear waterholes of the Litchfield National Park. Sit and watch the sunset over Darwin Harbour while you plan a bushwalk through monsoon forests or take a cruise to see those prehistoric predators – the crocodile.
The Bungle Bungles
The amazing natural geological formations of the Bungle Bungles range has to be seen to be believed, and this unique landscape has to be one of Australia’s best kept secrets. Taking an outback tour through steep sided gorges that twist and turn to reveal seasonal waterfalls, pools of water and large palms has to be one of the most incredible experiences imaginable. Visit the Cathedral Gorge or for an all-round view, head off for a scenic flight or take a 4wd adventure across rough and rugged terrain.
Ningaloo Reef and Coral Bay
For camping tours that introduce you to a taste of paradise, then a trip to Coral Bay makes for an ideal holiday. The weather is mild, and you get a chance to explore Australia’s only fringing reef. The coral starts at the very edge of the water so snorkelling and swimming is really accessible for the whole family to enjoy. Kayak tours can be booked and outside the marine park area, there are some great spots for the keen fisherman. During June to October you can watch the migration of the Humpback whale or in season around November to February the turtle nesting occurs. Quiet and peaceful this is a really beautiful part of the country to visit.
Greenough and Geraldton
If water sports are your leisure activity of choice then you have to check out the tailor made tours that take in Geraldton and Greenough. Geraldton is home to some of the most spectacular windsurfing, kitesurfing, diving and fishing conditions. Set on a beautiful coastline, framed by the Greenough and Chapman rivers, Geraldton is truly the hub of Mid-Western activity in Australia, whilst 24 km south of the city is the historical town of Greenough. If you want to spend a day stepping back in time to the 19th century, then check out the heritage trail which allows you to take in buildings that are now protected under Australian Heritage laws before getting back into your 21st century transportation and heading off for more amazing sights on your Australia outback tours.
